PINOT NOIR

"WILLAMETTE IS THE BURGUNDY OF AMERICA"

"Earthy" is a term (of endearment!) often applied to pinot noir from France's Burgundy region—which, by the way, is the gold standard of all the pinot noir on Earth. How do Oregon wines taste so much like Burgundy's? It's all thanks to the climates of the two wine-producing regions being incredibly similar. Both are defined by their year-round mild conditions, where winters are cool and wet and summers are warm and dry. Neither places get too warm (the temperature inches above the unfriendly wine growing mark of 90 °F only a few days each year), which is an environment where Pinot Noir thrives.

WHITES

The Willamette Valley is relatively mild throughout the year, with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. While moisture is abundant, most of the rainfall occurs in the winter, not during growing season. This temperate climate, combined with coastal marine influences, make the gentle growing conditions within the Valley ideal for cool climate grapes, including Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. The Valley enjoys more daylight hours during the growing season than in any other area of the state. During this longer growing season, the Willamette Valley enjoys warm days and cool nights, a diurnal temperature swing that allows the wine grapes to develop their flavor and complexity while retaining their natural acidity.

BLENDS

Crisp and refreshing, our off dry White Wine Blend is comprised of Chardonnay and Viognier.  It's the perfect summer sipper!

For those who enjoy a little bolder wine, we produce our Red Wine Blend.  We blend together Syrah from Horse Heaven Hills in Washington state and Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley in Oregon.  Enjoy with roasts, BBQ or pizza.

Bluebird Hill also serves up a delicious, sweet wine, our late harvest style Pinot Gris Dessert wine.  Comprised of 100% Pinot Gris, it's the perfect after dinner wine served as or with dessert.
